About Energy in Education
The Energy in Education programme is designed to help schools improve their energy management practices, reduce operating costs and protect the environment.
Energy in Education has been developed by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) in partnership with the Department of Education (DoE). The programme's main goal is to help schools across Ireland reduce their energy use.
Supporting the School Sector Climate Action Mandate
Energy in Education is designed to support Government climate targets and School Sector Climate Action Mandate. School sector targets include reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 51% in 2030 and improve energy efficiency to 50% by 2030.
SEAI's commitment to encouraging energy savings
SEAI provide support and guidance to schools across Ireland to help them reduce energy consumption. These supports include:
- Training in energy management
- Advice, mentoring and assessment services
- Curriculum materials
