Climate change is undoubtedly the greatest single challenge of the current generation. The school sector in Ireland has its own dedicated ‘School Sector Climate Action Mandate’ that best reflects the opportunities and constraints in schools. guidance to schools countrywide.

Meeting school sector energy targets

By 2030, the overall school sector must reduce energy related greenhouse gas emissions by 51% and improve energy efficiency by 50%. The School Sector Technical Climate Action Roadmap, provides an overview of the school sector requirements and roadmap to 2030 and 2050. It includes the strategic vision and outlines the high level initial trajectory for school sector delivery of its energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction targets.
